Under normal operating conditions, the membranes in the reverse osmosis components may be contaminated and clogged by suspended matter, microorganisms, and minerals. The membrane cleaning CIP system helps remove these deposits that form during operation, which can lead to reduced water production or decreased salt retention rate, or both. Regular cleaning of the membrane components can minimize performance loss and extend the lifespan of the membranes.

What is the membrane cleaning CIP system?
After a period of use, the membrane becomes dirty and clogged with various contaminants such as colloids, organic substances, inorganic substances, and biological substances, which requires cleaning. Our membrane cleaning CIP system can clean the membrane and extend the lifespan of the membrane by two or even three times compared to the normal lifespan. Therefore, CIP means "clean and use immediately".
Contaminants are the main factor causing the membrane to fail to function properly. Therefore, the following content focuses on effective methods. These methods explain how the membrane cleaning system improves the performance, reliability, and durability of reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration membrane technologies. Please consider the following information as important questions you need to ask the manufacturer when choosing a suitable cleaning system.
Canister filter: Used to intercept organic substances discharged from the membrane
Cleaning pump: Distributes the cleaning solution evenly on the reverse osmosis membrane
Storage tank: Used for mixing the cleaning solution
Control panel: Controls the operation of the system in automatic or manual mode
Level switch: Prevents the cleaning pump from running due to lack of water
When to clean the reverse osmosis membrane?
Under normal operating conditions, the reverse osmosis membrane may become dirty and covered with micro-pollutants, organic substances, and suspended matter. These deposits accumulate during use and can lead to reduced water output, decreased salt retention rate, or both. When the standardized saturated water output from the initial flow (i.e., within the first 48 hours after the first use) decreases by at least 10%, the membrane components need to be cleaned. Other situations that may indicate the need for cleaning include: an increase in the salt channel in the influent water by more than 10%, or a membrane pressure drop of at least 10%. Therefore, this is a common situation indicating membrane contamination.
It is also important to understand that if the influent water temperature decreases, the effluent rate will necessarily decrease as well.
